weekly wild #4: The One-Night Escape

Hi Reader,

Do you like camping?
I sure do.

There’s something almost ancient about it.. being outside from dawn to dusk, exposed to weather, fire, cold, silence.
It reminds your body what it’s built for.
It toughens you.
It clears your head.
It even boosts your immune system in ways a gym never could.

The biggest misconception about camping?
That it needs planning.
That it needs a full weekend.
That it needs a checklist, a perfect spot, or a week-long escape.

It really doesn’t.
Most of my best nights outdoors were spontaneous.
No planning.
No stress.
Everything lives in the trunk of my car: stove, sleeping bag, mat, light.

I just see a window in my day… and go.

at 00:30 of theis video you can watch a visual example of what that exactly looks like: 5 tiny challenges to change your life

Not a full trip.
Not a vacation.
Just a micro-adventure.. a quiet rebellion against routine.

It’s crazy how little it takes to reset your whole system.
A stretch of trail.
Cold air on your face.
Making food outside.
Hearing nothing but wind and your own thoughts.

You don’t need a weekend.
You don’t need perfect weather.
You don’t need gear lists or a five-hour drive.

Sometimes you just need a night away from everything familiar, so your mind can breathe again.

Because when you come back the next morning ( even if you barely slept) something feels different.

Your head is clearer.
Your body feels lighter.
Your stress shrinks.
Your internal volume turns down.
You remember who you are without noise.

It’s wild how quickly a single night can recalibrate your entire week.

This week’s tool:
Pick one night, any night, and escape somewhere close.
A forest. A beach. A hill. Even a quiet park.
Go alone or with someone you trust.
Pack light. Move slow.
Cook something warm.

This week’s action:
Turn your phone off for two hours while you’re out there.
Let nature hold your attention instead of a screen.
Notice how different your mind feels when the world stops asking for something.

See you next Wednesday.

In 2025 I followed Alice across Spain. She was attempting one of the most brutal solo endurance races in Europe. 1,500 km through the desert. Seven days. Self-sustained. France to Portugal on her bike. Desert Lilies is the film we made together. It is about what happens to a woman when she decides to go further than anyone thinks she should. About endurance. About silence. About the desert doing what deserts do.Watch the film and trailer here:https://f.io/Gt68ofw2 Produced by Alice Segre and...

Weekly wild #10

Hey Reader, Everyone wants speed. Faster splits.Explosive workouts.Impressive sessions. Nobody gets excited about slow calf raises. Or 10 minutes of mobility.Or easy aerobic Ks.Or controlled single-leg strength. But that’s the work that actually changes you. Social media rewards intensity. Sprints.Heavy lifts.Sweat.Collapse on the floor. It looks impressive. But the real separators are built quietly. The boring work builds tendon strength. It builds joint control. It builds aerobic depth.It...

Weekly Wild #9 - Let your body organise itself

Hi Reader, A few years ago, while running across Europe, I learned something unexpected from bison and frogs. During Run for Europe, I spent time with the team at Rewilding Europe in Italy, Romania, Bulgaria, and Croatia. Rewilding Europe is a conservation organization that restores natural ecosystems across Europe by bringing back missing species, repairing landscapes, and letting nature regenerate itself with minimal human control. In Romania, they studied a landscape for years before...
